The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith pushes Purnatori up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Purnatori.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Purnatori has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.

Smith won't allow Purnatori to sweep him here.
Purnatori is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Purnatori tries to pass the half guard into mount. Smith knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Purnatori stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Purnatori is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Smith doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Purnatori.

Smith is looking for a sweep. Purnatori is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Purnatori is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Smith wants to stand but Purnatori is controlling the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.
Purnatori keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.
Purnatori wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment.

Smith slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Smith gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Purnatori takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

It looks like Roxanni Purnatori has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith delivers a nice body kick.
