PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Clayton Hurley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maurice Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clayton Hurley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maurice Brennan!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurley slaps away a takedown attempt from Brennan, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Hurley drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Hurley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hurley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hurley thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hurley is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brennan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Brennan wants to pass the guard but Hurley is defending well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Hurley shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brennan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Brennan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hurley manages to get himself to full guard.

Brennan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hurley is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hurley has escaped and now he's on top!

Hurley keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Brennan's head.

Brennan drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hurley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Brennan has Hurley in his guard.

Brennan is looking to sinch up a triangle. Hurley throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Brennan's body to avoid the submission. Brennan has instead reached around Hurley's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Brennan arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Maurice Brennan!
