Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Donovyn Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rey Polamalu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Donovyn Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rey Polamalu!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Polamalu scores a takedown into full mount!
Penn is looking to improve his position but Polamalu isn't that keen on the idea.
Penn is working hard here to advance position.

Polamalu is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Penn is surviving well by controlling Polamalu's body position as best he can.

Polamalu looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Polamalu moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Penn has worked his arm free - good work by Penn!

Polamalu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Polamalu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Penn tries to bench press Polamalu off him but Polamalu keeps the position.

Polamalu is trying to get an arm triangle but Penn is defending well.

Polamalu is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Penn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Penn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Polamalu on the ground.

Polamalu looks gassed!
Penn is trying to control Polamalu's posture but Polamalu avoids it.

Polamalu swings around for an armbar but Penn sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Polamalu's guard.
Penn wants to pass the guard but Polamalu is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penn stands and steps away. Polamalu gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Penn fails with an attempt to clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Polamalu.
Penn looks to move to half guard but instead Polamalu has passed into mount! Damn!

Polamalu swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Penn is now in Polamalu's guard. A big mistake from Polamalu there, giving up the dominant position!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Penn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Penn defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Polamalu.
Penn has his takedown stuffed

and Polamalu counters with a shoot takedown. Penn fights it but they end up in guard.

Polamalu is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Penn is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Penn has escaped and now he's on top!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rey Polamalu dominated that round.
That's time! Penn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Penn wants to clinch but Polamalu slips to the side

and Polamalu counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Polamalu drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Penn dives on top into guard.
Penn showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Penn wants to get up but he can't break Polamalu's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Polamalu keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully.

Polamalu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Penn trying to control but Polamalu is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Polamalu looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Polamalu throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Penn escapes and throws Polamalu's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Polamalu is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn has knee on belly momentarily but Polamalu bucks him off and regains half guard.
Polamalu is not content to let Penn control the position.
Penn tries to stand and escape but Polamalu actually recovers to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Polamalu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Penn defends it easily.

Polamalu looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Polamalu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Penn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rey Polamalu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Polamalu shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Polamalu has control of Penn's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Penn regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Penn tries to reverse the position but Polamalu maintains control.

Polamalu goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Penn turns into him and now he's in Polamalu's guard.
Polamalu takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Penn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Penn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Penn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Polamalu is trying to control the position but Penn postures up.

Penn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Polamalu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Penn has managed to get both his arms back between Polamalu's legs - danger averted.
Polamalu preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Penn wants to pass the guard but Polamalu is keeping the position.
Polamalu keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully.

Polamalu has an active guard here but Penn has managed to pass into half guard.

Penn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Polamalu defends it well.

Rey Polamalu is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Donovyn Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I've got Polamalu winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
