PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Crash Bandicoot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendrell Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bandicoot comes to the cage accompanied by Crash Bandicoot: Jungle Rollers Remix. Johnson has chosen 2-Pac (Hit Em Up) as his entrance music. The key to victory for Crash Bandicoot has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Crash Bandicoot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kendrell Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bandicoot fails with a takedown attempt.
Crash Bandicoot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson swats away the attempt to clinch by Bandicoot.
Johnson stuffs the takedown attempt from Bandicoot. Bandicoot gets slowly back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Bandicoot wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bandicoot drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Johnson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bandicoot has Johnson in his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

That was a close round but I would say that Crash Bandicoot will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Johnson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bandicoot clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Bandicoot postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Johnson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bandicoot, into his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Johnson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bandicoot moves away.

Bandicoot shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Johnson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Johnson pulls Bandicoot in close to prevent any damage.

Bandicoot wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Johnson wants to sweep here but Bandicoot controlling him for the moment.

Bandicoot darts in and clinches Johnson up against the cage.
Johnson keeps control of Bandicoot as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Kendrell Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Johnson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Bandicoot lands a head kick. Johnson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

and Johnson counters with a single leg into guard. Bandicoot didn't expect that.

Bandicoot has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bandicoot had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Johnson defends it easily.

Bandicoot is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bandicoot is just content to waste time from the top position. Johnson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bandicoot drops back, looking for a kneebar! Johnson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Johnson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Johnson!
Johnson cracks Bandicoot with a big right hand but Bandicoot just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Bandicoot is trying to improve his position.
Bandicoot is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Johnson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Johnson wants to stand up but Bandicoot has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Bandicoot is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Johnson pulls his head out easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kendrell Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Johnson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
