And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cathal Mooney!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Pacas throws a right hand that Mooney ducks under and follows up with a left that Mooney also avoids with ease.
Mooney tries to clinch but De Pacas is having none of it.
Mooney scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

De Pacas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mooney looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Mooney is pushing down on De Pacas's leg trying to pass to half guard. De Pacas is fighting to maintain full guard but Mooney has managed to sneak the leg through.

Mooney is looking to take a break and control but De Pacas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

De Pacas is not content to let Mooney control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mooney postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for De Pacas to stand up.

and Mooney counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mooney stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and De Pacas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mooney's guard now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as De Pacas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mooney is pulling down on De Pacas's head. It's preventing any offense from De Pacas, at least for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! De Pacas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mooney throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Mooney decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in De Pacas's guard.
De Pacas could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Mooney gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Pedro De Pacas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mooney takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mooney seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but De Pacas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters circle momentarily. De Pacas darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Mooney closes the distance and pushes De Pacas back into the cage.

De Pacas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The fighters circling - De Pacas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

De Pacas gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mooney to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Mooney stands and steps away. De Pacas gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

De Pacas tries to pull guard but Mooney holds him up against the cage and eventually De Pacas drops back down to his feet.
De Pacas is working for takedown but Mooney is calmly controlling the position for now.

Mooney has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. De Pacas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Mooney tries to stall but De Pacas uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Cathal Mooney showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

De Pacas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mooney is aware though and is defending well.

Mooney slips nicely into half guard.
De Pacas is staying active underneath Mooney, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

De Pacas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mooney has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
De Pacas moves in looking to clinch but Mooney pushes him off.

Mooney feints and as De Pacas raises his hands in defense, Mooney changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

De Pacas wants to sweep here but Mooney controlling him for the moment.

Mooney's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Mooney looking to sit in guard and control but De Pacas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mooney escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. De Pacas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mooney has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but De Pacas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cathal Mooney comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mooney has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
