PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between JJ Pajis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pajis comes to the cage accompanied by Rammstein - Mutter. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, JJ Pajis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Forrest Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Liddell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Liddell drops Pajis with a right and a left! Liddell comes rushing in but Pajis regains his composure and manages to keep Liddell in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Liddell with a flurry of punches that miss.
Pajis working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Liddell.
Liddell should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Pajis had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Liddell is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Pajis Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Liddell's back instead.

Liddell is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Pajis is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Liddell is defending well though. Pajis let's go of the attempt for now.

Pajis is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Liddell knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Liddell for a finish.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Liddell scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Pajis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Liddell circles away.
Liddell moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Forrest Liddell dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Liddell uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pajis has time to react.
Pajis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Pajis avoids a punch combination nicely.
Liddell closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Liddell looks to land a combination but Pajis avoids it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pajis shoots in looking for a takedown. Liddell tries to sprawl out of it but Pajis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Liddell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Pajis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Liddell's guard.

Pajis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Liddell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pajis is controlling him.

Liddell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pajis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pajis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pajis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Pajis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Liddell is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Liddell has escaped and now he's on top!

Liddell stands up over Pajis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Pajis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Liddell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pajis drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Liddell dives on top into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Liddell looking to sit in guard and control but Pajis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Liddell tries to get to full guard but Pajis has control of the leg.

Liddell is looking to stand up but Pajis isn't so interested in that idea.
Pajis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Pajis is working Liddell over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Pajis won't allow Liddell to get back to his feet.
Liddell is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
