Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodrick Williams!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blair instigates a clinch.

Blair is trying to trip Williams. He has hold of a leg but Williams is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Blair persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Blair trying to control the position from guard on top but Williams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Williams is looking to stand up but Blair isn't so interested in that idea.
Blair trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Williams is trying to control the position but Blair postures up.
Blair stopping the sweep attempt from Williams.
Williams is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Blair fails with an attempt to clinch.

Blair gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Williams tries to free his leg and advance position but Blair is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blair has a closed guard, preventing Williams from standing up.

Williams is fighting to break Blair's control of his arms but Blair is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Blair decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Blair tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Blair fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Williams counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Blair fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Williams checks it well.
Williams shoots for a takedown but Blair saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch but Blair swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Williams thumps Blair with a low kick.

Williams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Blair's guard.
Williams wants to control from the top but Blair keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Blair dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Blair counters with a single leg into guard. Williams didn't expect that.
Williams keeping moving, preventing Blair from controlling successfully.

Blair gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Williams keeps the fight on the outside.
Blair throws a head kick that misses

and Williams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Blair's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Blair is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Blair looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Blair has momentary wrist control but Williams slips an elbow through the middle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Williams fails with the takedown

and Blair holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Williams looking to stall.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Blair is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Williams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Eric Blair is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A good leg kick by Blair.
Blair slaps away a takedown attempt from Williams, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Eric Blair has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodrick Williams.

Blair clinches up with Williams and pushes him back against the cage.
Williams jumps guard but Blair stands there with Williams around his waist. Williams gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Blair creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Williams's defenses.
Blair keeps control of Williams as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Blair breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Blair misses with a head kick.

Williams feints and as Blair raises his hands in defense, Williams changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Williams won't allow Blair to get back to his feet.

Blair looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Blair has a closed guard, preventing Williams from standing up.

Blair looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Eric Blair overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Blair throws his legs up looking for a submission but Williams uses it to pass to side control.
Blair is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Williams wants to control but Blair is keeping him busy.
Williams creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Blair sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Blair tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Williams remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Blair has one of Williams's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blair changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Williams looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Williams is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Williams is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Blair gets to mount! Williams was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Blair postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Williams looks a forlorn figure.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Blair controlling from mount.
Williams tries to lock up and control but Blair gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Blair scoring with strikes but Williams is staying in there.

Blair swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
