Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Igor Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mirko Cro Cop!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cro Cop bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Cro Cop is looking to clinch.
Cro Cop tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rogers shoots in but no luck this time.
Cro Cop fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cro Cop misses with a takedown attempt - Rogers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Cro Cop tries to clinch up.

Cro Cop instigates a clinch.
Cro Cop tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rogers just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rogers is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Cro Cop is keeping busy.
Rogers keeps control of Cro Cop as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Cro Cop tries to pull guard but Rogers won't allow it.
Igor Rogers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mirko Cro Cop.
Rogers stalling in the clinch but Cro Cop improves position.
Rogers has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Cro Cop tries to pull guard but Rogers holds him up against the cage and eventually Cro Cop drops back down to his feet.
Cro Cop is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cro Cop has Rogers pressed against the cage, preventing Rogers from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cro Cop fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Rogers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rogers is looking to stand up but Cro Cop isn't so interested in that idea.
Rogers trying to keep a closed guard but Cro Cop is proving a slippery customer.

Cro Cop stops Rogers from standing up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cro Cop's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Rogers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cro Cop throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rogers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Cro Cop working some strikes from top position.

Cro Cop is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Rogers trying to keep a closed guard but Cro Cop is proving a slippery customer.
Cro Cop connects with a couple of short punches.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rogers looking to control.
Rogers is breathing heavily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rogers is on top in guard.
Cro Cop thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cro Cop throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Cro Cop lands a decent punch to the body there.
Cro Cop punching from the bottom.
Cro Cop keeping moving, preventing Rogers from controlling successfully.

Cro Cop throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Cro Cop trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Rogers decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A combination from Rogers does no damage.
Rogers throws a right hand that Cro Cop ducks under and follows up with a left that Cro Cop also avoids with ease.
Cro Cop is looking to clinch but Rogers is avoiding it.
Cro Cop fails with an attempt to clinch.

Cro Cop looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rogers wants to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cro Cop working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cro Cop lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rogers manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cro Cop has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rogers is proving hard to escape from.
Rogers trying to control the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cro Cop's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Cro Cop stops Rogers from standing up.
Cro Cop throwing strikes from guard but Rogers blocks nicely.
Rogers manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The referee warns Cro Cop that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cro Cop is bucking up trying to escape but Rogers cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Cro Cop is trying to escape the mount.
Cro Cop is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rogers scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Cro Cop?
Cro Cop landing with some feeble shots from his back... He should probably try escaping the position instead.
Cro Cop really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rogers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cro Cop in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Rogers is looking to stand but Rogers has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Cro Cop tries to improve his position but Rogers has taken his back! Rogers has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Cro Cop tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Rogers pushes Cro Cop away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Igor Rogers!
