The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Marcelo Carvalho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ferreira avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ferreira lands with a thumping leg kick.
Carvalho fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carvalho thows a body shot but no joy.
Ferreira closes the distance and clinches up with Carvalho, looking for a takedown. Ferreira pushes Carvalho against the cage but Carvalho circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Carvalho. No joy for Ferreira on that attempt.

Carvalho thows a left - swing and a miss!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carvalho fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Ferreira clinches up with Carvalho and pushes him back against the cage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ferreira takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
A frustrated look appears on Carvalho's face as he tries to break the clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Carvalho.
Ferreira fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Murilo Ferreira. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ferreira escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ferreira shoots for a double leg takedown but Carvalho sprawls well. He's pushed Ferreira's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Carvalho scores with a jab to the body.
Carvalho throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

It looks like Murilo Ferreira has been cut.
Ferreira is breathing heavily.

Carvalho connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ferreira's hands.

Ferreira closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ferreira lands in his opponent's guard.

Carvalho is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Ferreira frees his head nicely. Oh but Carvalho has switched to an armbar! Ferreira is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
