PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hank Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Stocky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hank Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg Stocky!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stocky walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Nice body punch from Hill.
Stocky leaves Hill with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Stocky takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Hill misses with a body shot.
Hill lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Stocky at a distance.
Horrible takedown by Hill or perhaps it was just good defense by Stocky which made him look bad.
Hill fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Hill thows a body shot but no joy.
Hill misses with a body shot.
Stocky looks to throw the jab but Hill is out of range.
Hill misses with a hook. Stocky ducked under it nicely.
Hank Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Hill finds it's way through Stocky's defenses.
Hill shoots in looking for a takedown. Stocky tries to sprawl out of it but Hill keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stocky manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hank Hill. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hill walks into a straight right hand from Stocky.
Hill throws the left hand but Stocky avoids the punch easily.

Stocky shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hill napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Hill is looking for a sweep.
Hill dodges the ground and pound from Stocky.
Stocky working the ground and pound but Hill is defending the strikes.

Hill wants to control but Stocky postures up.
Hill sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Hill is looking to improve his position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Stocky connects with a nice short shot to Hill's temple.
Hill regains full guard. Nicely done.
Stocky sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hill wants to sweep but no luck.
Stocky must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hill manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Stocky is looking to get to half guard.

Hill is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Stocky is surviving well by controlling Hill's body position as best he can.
Stocky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hill. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stocky wants to hold on but Hill pushes him away.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Stocky prevents Hill from taking his back.
Hill thowing shots but they're missing.
Stocky really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hill trying to control but Stocky is having none of it.
Hill tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Greg Stocky will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Stocky with a poor takedown

and Hill counters with a single leg into guard. Stocky didn't expect that.
Stocky is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hill wants to control from the top but Stocky keeps moving.
Hill tries to free his leg and advance position but Stocky is retaining full guard.
Hill is working hard here to advance position.
Stocky not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hill trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Hill throwing strikes from guard but Stocky blocks nicely.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hill blocks a jab.
Stocky fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Hill shoots in and bounces Stocky off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hill is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hill slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Stocky wants to control but Hill postures up.
Hill trying to control the action but Stocky is working from the bottom.

Hill controlling from side mount.
Stocky regains half guard, as Hill was trying to land strikes.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stocky can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hill looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stocky with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hill tries to pass to full mount but Stocky defends it.
Stocky wants to improve his position but Hill is controlling well.
Stocky is controlling Hill's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Hill trying to control the action but Stocky is working from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hill tries to pass to full mount but Stocky defends it.

Hill is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stocky is just riding it out for now. Hill eventually gives up the hold.
Hill sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stocky defending well though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hill pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hank Hill dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Hill is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Stocky.
Stocky takes one to the chin there.

Hill throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Stocky staying out of range there.
Hill connects with a looping right hand.
Stocky takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Greg Stocky is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stocky throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Hill loads up on a big right hand but Stocky slips the punch.
Hill looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stocky is fending him off so far but Hill persists. Nope, Stocky circles away and we're back to standing.

Hill decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hillis looking to pass into half guard but Stocky pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Stocky is in guard.
Hill wants to sweep but no luck.

Hill has his foot on Stocky's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stocky works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hill keeping moving, preventing Stocky from controlling successfully.

Hill is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hill looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stocky is one step ahead there.
Stocky content to stall in guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hill has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Stocky should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Hill has tightened it up now! Stocky should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Hank Hill!
