Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Sorvino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prince Vasquel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasquel has chosen Halo-Street Fighter as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Sorvino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Prince Vasquel!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasquel fails with the takedown.
Sorvino stuffs the takedown.
A punch combination from Vasquel misses.
Sorvino tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vasquel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sorvino somewhat.

and Sorvino counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Paul Sorvino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Prince Vasquel.

Sorvino is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sorvino is working for a submission of some sort.
Vasquel is pressing down on Sorvino's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Vasquel wants to sweep here but Sorvino controlling him for the moment.
Vasquel is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Sorvino drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Vasquel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sorvino has Vasquel in his guard.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Sorvino looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Vasquel is desperately trying to improve his position but Sorvino has a good base and remains in mount.

Sorvino is going olschool here, as he tries to force Vasquel to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Vasquel shrugs it off.

Sorvino is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Vasquel has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Vasquel!
Vasquel is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Vasquel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Vasquel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sorvino has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vasquel has managed to get both his arms back between Sorvino's legs - danger averted.
Vasquel wants to pass the guard but Sorvino is keeping the position.

Sorvino drops back looking for a leg! Vasquel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vasquel manages to kick Sorvino off! Sorvino jumps back into Vasquel's guard.

Vasquel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sorvino's guard.

Sorvino tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Vasquel stands up and waves to Sorvino to follow him.
Vasquel tries to clinch up.
No joy there for Vasquel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sorvino displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vasquel throws out the jab.
Sorvino avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Vasquel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sorvino is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sorvino has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Vasquel is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sorvino.

Vasquel is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Sorvino gets his way!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sorvino is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vasquel rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Sorvino is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vasquel is just riding it out for now. Sorvino eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vasquel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sorvino gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Vasquel lands a nice leg kick that just misses Sorvino's sensitive parts.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vasquel is on top in guard.

Sorvino working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vasquel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Sorvino is tightening it up a little... Vasquel has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Vasquel reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Vasquel taps out! nice BJJ there by Sorvino!
