The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stanley misses with a two punch combination.
Lowell Stanley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stanley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Smith keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stanley.
Stanley looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt.
Stanley misses with a series of wild punches.
Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stanley throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Stanley throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Smith on the side of the head.

and Stanley counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Smith thinking.
Smith throws a right hand that Stanley ducks under and follows up with a left that Stanley also avoids with ease.
Stanley throws the left hand but Smith avoids the punch easily.

Stanley misses with a double jab
and Smith counters with a three punch combo that has Stanley backing up. Stanley nods at Smith to acknowledge the strikes.
Stanley tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Stanley.
Stanley lands a with a good body shot.
Stanley misses with a looping right.
Smith ducks under a wild hook from Stanley.

and Smith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Stanley's guard now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Smith looks gassed!
Stanley is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.

Stanley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Smith is pushing down on Stanley's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stanley is fighting to maintain full guard but Smith has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stanley preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Smith is trying for a kimura here. Stanley looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Smith wins by kimura!
