Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Sheppard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyle Sheppard!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sheppard scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Sheppard throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Nice sprawl there from Sheppard as Powers shoots in.
Sheppard thows a body shot but no joy.
Powers dodges the punch combination from Sheppard.
Sheppard's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Sheppard duly obliges.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sheppard swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sheppard stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Sheppard stuffs the takedown attempt from Powers. Powers gets slowly back to his feet.

Powers feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Powers gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Sheppard stuns Powers with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Sheppard lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Sheppard works over Powers's head and body with a nice combination.
Powers takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Powers closes the distance and clinches up with Sheppard, looking for a takedown. Powers pushes Sheppard against the cage but Sheppard circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Powers shoots in looking for a takedown. Sheppard tries to sprawl out of it but Powers keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sheppard manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sheppard clobbers Powers with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
