The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Irish gets the takedown into side control.
Hernandez is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Hernandez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hernandez tries to control but Irish manages to take his back.
A lull in the action here.
Irish lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Irish misses with punches from the back.
Hernandez breaks Irish's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Irish is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Irish really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Irish counters by moving into the clinch.
Hernandez gets underhooks to prevent Irish's takedown attempt.

Hernandez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Both fighters circling a little - Hernandez finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

so Irish counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Paddy Irish has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Omar Hernandez.
Irish stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hernandez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Irish wants to stand but Hernandez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hernandez is working an open guard so Irish takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Hernandez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Irish's guard now.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Irish holds on and takes a little breather.
Irish throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hernandez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Irish controls Hernandez momentarily but Hernandez frees himself.

Irish looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Hernandez is defending well. Irish quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Hernandez has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Irish celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
