Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Milkarin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wade Carlson!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Carlson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Carlson lands with some strikes.

Carlson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Carlson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Carlson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Carlson feints and as Milkarin raises his hands in defense, Carlson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Carlson drops back looking for a leg! Milkarin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Milkarin manages to kick Carlson off! Carlson jumps back into Milkarin's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Carlson drops back looking for a leg! Milkarin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Milkarin manages to kick Carlson off! Carlson jumps back into Milkarin's guard.

Milkarin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carlson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Carlson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Milkarin is staying active underneath Carlson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Milkarin tries to kick Carlson off in order to stand up. Carlson Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Carlson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Milkarin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Milkarin has control of an arm but Carlson manages to advance to Carlson's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlson swats away the attempt to clinch by Milkarin.

The fight stays on the outside here - Milkarin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Milkarin is not content to let Carlson control the position.

Carlson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Milkarin!

Carlson rushes Milkarin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Carlson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carlson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Milkarin is trying to control Carlson's posture but Carlson avoids it.

Carlson tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Carlson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Milkarin keeps working.

You can see the frustration on Milkarin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Wade Carlson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
