Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paulo Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dustin Smith!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Alves both land. Nice combination.
A head kick misses from Smith.
Smith moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Alves has taken the fight to the clinch.

Alves pulls guard effortlessly.

Alves is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith wanted to stand there but Alves had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Alves is looking for a triangle but Smith pushes his legs off easily.
Alves keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.
Alves looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alves has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Alves's legs - danger averted.
Smith wanted to stand there but Alves had control of the position.
Smith pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alves is keeping the position for now.
Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smith is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Alves pushes Smith off and gets back to his feet.
Alves fails with a takedown attempt.
Smith clinches but Alves breaks the clinch

and Alves counters by moving into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith goes for a takedown in the clinch but Alves prevents it.
Alves is trying to break the clinch but Smith has him pressed against the cage.

Alves manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Alves has a closed guard, preventing Smith from standing up.

Alves escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Smith looks gassed!

Alves is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Smith frees his head nicely. Oh but Alves has switched to an armbar! Smith is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
