The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menkhoff stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Menkhoff wants it to stay on the feet.
Menkhoff tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Vasconcelos tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Menkhoff swivels and escapes.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vasconcelos is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Menkhoff is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Menkhoff has escaped and now he's on top!

Vasconcelos escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Menkhoff gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Menkhoff tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vasconcelos paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vasconcelos takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Menkhoff tries to bum rush Vasconcelos with a series of wild strikes but Vasconcelos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Menkhoff is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vasconcelos.

Vasconcelos has Menkhoff pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Vasconcelos pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Menkhoff tumbling to the mat - Vasconcelos dives into Menkhoff's guard.

Menkhoff got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vasconcelos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Menkhoff has managed to get both his arms back between Vasconcelos's legs - danger averted.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
