PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael O Leary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kane Riddick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Leary comes to the cage accompanied by B.o.B - I'll Be In The Sky. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael O Leary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kane Riddick!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riddick fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

O Leary rushes Riddick and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Riddick with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

O Leary's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Riddick shoots in looking for a takedown. O Leary tries to sprawl out of it but Riddick keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. O Leary manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

O Leary decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Riddick moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Riddick controls O Leary momentarily but O Leary frees himself.
O Leary forces his way into half guard.

O Leary is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Riddick wants to stand up but O Leary is controlling him.

Riddick had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. O Leary is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Riddick Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take O Leary's back instead.
Riddick throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting O Leary!
O Leary tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Riddick looking to ground and pound but O Leary is blocking nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
O Leary can't escape the position.
Riddick tries to control but O Leary wriggling away.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
O Leary regains half guard.
O Leary wants to improve his position but Riddick is controlling well.
Riddick trying to control the action but O Leary is working from the bottom.
Riddick throwing shots but O Leary is blocking nicely.
O Leary gets back to full guard.
Riddick loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
O Leary is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Riddick gets full guard.
O Leary wants to pass the guard but Riddick is keeping the position.
Riddick not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
O Leary stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Riddick swivels though and keeps the full guard.
O Leary has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as O Leary accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

O Leary is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and O Leary counters by clinching up.
Michael O Leary has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kane Riddick.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
O Leary tries to score a body lock takedown but Riddick shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

O Leary wants the takedown. Riddick is fighting it off but O Leary persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Riddick's guard against the cage.
Riddick throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

O Leary got a little sloppy there for a moment and Riddick has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, O Leary has managed to get both his arms back between Riddick's legs - danger averted.
O Leary throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Riddick works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

O Leary drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says O Leary as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Riddick screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with O Leary! Nice submission victory there!
