PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hector Bonilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamir Amini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jamir Amini will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector Bonilla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamir Amini!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amini throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bonilla sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Amini feints and as Bonilla raises his hands in defense, Amini changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Amini got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bonilla has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Amini has managed to get both his arms back between Bonilla's legs - danger averted.
Amini trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Bonilla is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Amini defends well.

Bonilla thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Amini manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bonilla manages to get himself to full guard.
Amini connects with a couple of short punches.
Bonilla will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bonilla isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Amini stacks Bonilla on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Amini!
Amini is looking to take a break and control but Bonilla is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Amini drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bonilla manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Amini has Bonilla in his guard.

Amini lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bonilla!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Amini is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bonilla has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Amini cracks Bonilla with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Amini scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Bonilla?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Amini shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bonilla is trying to defend but Amini finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Amini looking for a submission but Bonilla manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Amini looking to sit in guard and control but Bonilla gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Amini escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bonilla gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bonilla lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Amini is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Bonilla really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bonilla won't allow Amini to sweep him here.

Bonilla drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bonilla jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Amini is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bonilla is not content to let Amini control the position.
Bonilla is looking to regain half guard here but Amini keeps moving and retains side control.

Amini is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bonilla defends it well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Still in half guard, Amini seems content to control.

Amini is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Amini is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bonilla sees it coming and defends easily.

Bonilla is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Amini pulls his head out easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Amini turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Amini shoots in but Bonilla avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamir Amini showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!



Amini closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Amini sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bonilla's guard.
Amini takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Amini is looking for a triangle here but Bonilla uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Bonilla goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Amini has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bonilla but great work by Amini.
Bonilla is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Amini is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Bonilla is trying to escape the mount but Amini keeps good control and instead manages to take Bonilla's back.
Amini keeps control of the position as Bonilla tries to break free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Amini lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Amini.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jamir Amini comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Amini has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
