PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Arlovski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sewar d Latham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Arlovski might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to fuck the weak. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrei Arlovski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sewar d Latham!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Latham clinches with his opponent.
Arlovski tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Latham is trying to break free.
Arlovski tries to pull guard but Latham won't allow it.

Latham has hold of one of Arlovski's legs. Arlovski is fighting the takedown attempt but Latham gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Arlovski preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Latham is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Latham wants to control from the top but Arlovski keeps moving.

Latham stands and steps away. Arlovski gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Latham tries to land a front kick but Arlovski steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Latham forces Arlovski back against the cage and clinches.
Arlovski tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Latham pulls guard.
Latham is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Arlovski won't allow Latham to sweep him here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Arlovski's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Arlovski chips away with some ground and pound.
Arlovski throws a big right hand that misses.
Latham looking to hit a scissor sweep but Arlovski is one step ahead there.
Arlovski throws a strike but Latham rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Latham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Arlovski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Latham gets to his feet - Arlovski follows without any prompting.
Latham tries a head kick but it misses.
Latham looks gassed!
Latham looks for a takedown but Arlovski sprawls well.
Arlovski darts in trying to clinch

and Latham counters with a nice double leg into side control. Arlovski won't be happy with that.
Arlovski tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Latham trying to control the action but Arlovski is working from the bottom.

Latham decides to stand back up. Latham steps back and let's Arlovski get back to his feet.

and Latham counters with a shoot takedown. Arlovski fights it but they end up in guard.
Arlovski avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sewar d Latham dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Arlovski misses with a few strikes there.
Arlovski lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Sewar d Latham has been cut.

Latham shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Latham wants to lay and pray for a moment but Arlovski keeps working.
Arlovski regains full guard. Nicely done.
Latham pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Arlovski is keeping the position for now.
Sewar d Latham has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Arlovski wriggles free and stands up.
Arlovski misses with a jab, cross combination.
Arlovski getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Arlovski misses with a series of wild punches.
Latham throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Arlovski stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Latham closes the distance and clinches.
Arlovski pushes Latham back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Latham lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Latham wants to lay and pray for a moment but Arlovski keeps working.
Latham with the ground and pound but Arlovski uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Latham stays in close to Arlovski's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Latham throws a big right hand that misses.

Arlovski keeping full guard, as Latham tries to pass.
Latham is stalling in the full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Latham drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Arlovski manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Latham has Arlovski in his guard.

Arlovski works over Latham with some ground and pound from guard.

Andrei Arlovski dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Sewar d Latham's cut.
That's time! Arlovski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Latham wants to control from the top but Arlovski keeps moving.

Despite being in the dominant position, Sewar d Latham just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Arlovski misses with a wild combination.
Arlovski looks to land a combination but Latham avoids it well.

Latham looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Arlovski!
Arlovski is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Latham manages to capitalize on a mistake by Arlovski to take his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Arlovski is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Latham.

Latham working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Latham is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Arlovski defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Arlovski manages to scramble and ends up in full guard, under a barage of strikes . Great composure from Arlovski.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Latham accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Latham prevents Arlovski from getting back to his feet.
Arlovski keeping moving, preventing Latham from controlling successfully.
Latham slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Latham wants to control from the top but Arlovski keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sewar d Latham comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Latham has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
