PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bai Sistjierten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shannon Bailey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shannon Bailey told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Bai Sistjierten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Shannon Bailey!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bailey gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sistjierten to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Sistjierten throwing strikes from guard but Bailey blocks nicely.
Sistjierten is in close to Bailey's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Bailey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sistjierten. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bailey wants to stand up but Sistjierten is controlling him.
Bailey is adopting a defensive guard.
Bailey keeping moving, preventing Sistjierten from controlling successfully.
Bailey trying to strike off his back.
Sistjierten with a flurry of punches that miss.
Sistjierten takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
Bailey is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bailey is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Sistjierten closes the distance and clinches.
Sistjierten goes for a takedown attempt but Bailey pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Sistjierten shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bailey is trying to defend but Sistjierten finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Sistjierten is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bailey is just riding it out for now. Sistjierten eventually gives up the hold.

Sistjierten decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Bailey fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bailey avoids a punch combination nicely.

Sistjierten waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Bailey.
Bailey misses with a hook. Sistjierten ducked under it nicely.

Sistjierten moves into the clinch.

Bailey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bai Sistjierten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bailey misses with a looping left.

Sistjierten scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Bailey takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bailey is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Bailey looks gassed!
Bailey tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sistjierten wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Sistjierten looks up at the clock and then as Bailey takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sistjierten smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Sistjierten scores with a couple of short elbows.

Sistjierten has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Sistjierten fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bailey sprawls well initially but Sistjierten persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Nice strikes from Sistjierten there.

Sistjierten seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Bailey is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
