Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucas Preston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, William McDonough!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonough pulls out of a head kick attempt.

McDonough shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McDonough was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
McDonough content just to control the position here.
Preston can't escape the position.
McDonough tries to control but Preston wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Preston is desperately trying to improve his position but McDonough has a good base and remains in mount.
Preston wants to hold on but McDonough pushes him away.
Preston is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
McDonough looking to ground and pound but Preston is blocking nicely.
Preston is trying to escape the mount.

McDonough is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Preston is surviving well by controlling McDonough's body position as best he can.

McDonough looking to control and managing it successfully.
McDonough moves to the back position.
Preston tries to escape but McDonough has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

McDonough is persistently looking for the submission but Preston is defending it well.
Preston wants to control his opponent's hands but McDonough gets his hands free.

McDonough working for the choke.
What can Preston do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

McDonough tries to keep control of the position but Preston is staying busy.
Even with his hooks in, McDonough manages to miss with strikes from the back.
McDonough throwing sloppy strikes.
McDonough is looking to control Preston but Preston is wriggling around and keeping busy.

McDonough is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Preston knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Preston for a finish.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McDonough controls the action.
McDonough looking to hold on to the position here but Preston rolls and ends up regaining guard.

Preston is really struggling to control McDonough but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Preston has McDonough pulled in close to control his posture.

McDonough drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McDonough jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Preston tries for a takedown but McDonough circles away easily
and McDonough counters with a three punch combo that has Preston backing up. Preston nods at McDonough to acknowledge the strikes.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McDonough swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McDonough on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Preston takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
McDonough just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McDonough throws a wild body kick that Preston sees coming a mile off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William McDonough dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McDonough tries for a takedown but Preston circles away easily

and Preston counters with a single leg into guard. McDonough didn't expect that.
Preston throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McDonough works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Preston pushing down on McDonough's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Preston is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
McDonough is desperately trying to improve his position but Preston has a good base and remains in mount.
McDonough regains half guard.
McDonough is trying to control but can't.

Preston is working for a kimura but McDonough is defending it quite comfortably.
McDonough regains full guard. Nicely done.

McDonough looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Preston throws and elbow that misses. McDonough uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Preston's guard. Nice move by McDonough!
McDonough trying to control but Preston is working from the bottom.
McDonough tries to free his leg and advance position but Preston is retaining full guard.
McDonough trying to control the position from guard on top but Preston is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Preston holds on and takes a little breather.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Preston preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Preston looking to hit a scissor sweep but McDonough is one step ahead there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
McDonough looks to land a combination but Preston avoids it well.
Preston swings and misses with a hook to the body.

McDonough throws a head kick but Preston moves out of range.

Preston shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Preston wants to control but McDonough is keeping him busy.
McDonough avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Preston.
Preston wants to pass to mount but McDonough is defending the position.

McDonough looking for submissions off his back.
McDonough gets full guard.

McDonough trying to control the position.
McDonough wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Preston wants to control from the top but McDonough keeps moving.
McDonough is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McDonough controls Preston momentarily but Preston frees himself.
McDonough manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Preston manages to get himself to full guard.
Preston has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Preston dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Preston throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A slow jab from Preston misses its intended target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McDonough slips a straight right by Preston.

McDonough is trying hard to land a takedown here. Preston sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Preston throws a looping overhand right but McDonough ducks down to avoid it.
Preston tries to score a power double leg takedown but McDonough sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Preston somewhat.
McDonough tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Preston was well out of range. Poor timing from McDonough.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
A big right from Preston misses.
Preston shoots in but McDonough avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Preston fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McDonough manages to avoid it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Preston fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
McDonough throws a series of punches but Preston avoids them all with ease.
Preston will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucas Preston. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McDonough tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McDonough lands with a shot to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice defenses there by McDonough.
McDonough misses with a double jab
and Preston connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McDonough tries for a takedown but Preston circles away easily

and Preston counters with a takedown into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lucas Preston showed his dominance in that final round.
