PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Vitor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blake kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Knockout. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vitor tries to clinch up but Blake circles away and keeps his distance.
Joao Vitor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blake dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Blake wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Blake shoots for a takedown but Vitor saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Blake could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Blake looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Blake just misses with a punch to the body.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Blake counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Blake wants to get up but he can't break Vitor's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Vitor looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vitor is on top in guard.
Vitor sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Blake's guard.

Vitor unloads with some shots from mount but Blake bucks and avoids them well.

Blake knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vitor on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Blake stops Vitor from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Blake got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vitor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blake has managed to get both his arms back between Vitor's legs - danger averted.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Vitor is looking to sinch up a triangle. Blake throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Vitor's body to avoid the submission. Vitor has instead reached around Blake's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Vitor arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
