PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heinrich Dieter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Helm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Heinrich Dieter has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Heinrich Dieter seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mick Helm!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Helm feints and as Dieter raises his hands in defense, Helm changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Helm pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dieter is keeping the position for now.
Helm should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Helm trying to control the position from guard on top but Dieter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Helm postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Helm tries to free his leg and advance position but Dieter is retaining full guard.
Helm wants to stand but Dieter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Helm stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dieter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Helm has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Helm looks for a takedown but Dieter sprawls well.
Helm shoots for a double leg takedown but Dieter sprawls well. He's pushed Helm's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Helm looks gassed!

Dieter fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Helm sprawls well initially but Dieter persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dieter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Helm does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Dieter is working for a submission of some sort.
Dieter prevents Helm from improving his position.
Helm is refusing to be controlled, as Dieter sits in half guard.

Dieter is looking for a kimura but Helm is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dieter to get the leverage.
Dieter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Helm's head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dieter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Helm swivels and escapes.

Dieter shoots in and bounces Helm off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

Helm drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Helm jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Helm drops back looking for a leg! Dieter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dieter manages to kick Helm off! Helm jumps back into Dieter's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dieter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mick Helm will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Helm shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dieter's guard.

Helm stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Helm wants it to stay on the feet.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

and Helm counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dieter won't be happy with that.
Helm tries to move into full mount but can't pass Dieter's legs.

Helm is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dieter has escaped the position, nice work there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Helm is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dieter is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Helm wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dieter, who protects the arm well.

Helm has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Dieter is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Helm yanks on the arm and Dieter is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Helm.
