Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Ed Murphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, BJ Penn!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn gets a clinch.
Murphy looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Murphy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Penn fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Penn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Murphy sprawls well initially but Penn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Penn decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Penn shoots in looking for a takedown. Murphy tries to sprawl out of it but Penn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Murphy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ed Murphy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Murphy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Penn.

Penn feints and as Murphy raises his hands in defense, Penn changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Penn decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Murphy, up you get!
Penn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ed Murphy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Penn.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Penn.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Penn is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Murphy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Penn wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Penn scoring with punches and elbows.
Penn tries to advance to mount but can't.

Penn is working to tighten is grip on Murphy's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Murphy has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Penn is really squeezing tight and eventually Murphy passes out! Penn breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). BJ Penn!
