The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Virne misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Virne closes this distance looking for a takedown but badge circles away.
Virne moves out of range as badge throws a body kick.
Virne swats away the attempt to clinch by badge.

Virne shoots in and bounces badge off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
badge keeping moving, preventing Virne from controlling successfully.
Virne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. badge swivels though and keeps the full guard.
badge pulls Virne in close to his closed guard and prevents Virne from doing any damage or advancing position.
badge can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Virne controls the pace.

Virne postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Virne looking to sit in guard and control but badge gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
badge is looking to stand up but Virne won't let him.
badge trying to control the position from guard on top but Virne is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

badge gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
badge fails with the takedown

and Virne counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Virne.
Virne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with badge. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Virne is looking to work some ground and pound but badge has wrist control.

badge lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Virne!

badge has hold of Virne's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Virne manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Virne tries to hold on but badge pushes him away.

That was a close round but I would say that Donnie badge will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

badge shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Virne counters with a nice double leg into side control. badge won't be happy with that.
Jarppi Virne has got the better of the ground game so far.
badge is trying to improve his position.
You can see the frustration on badge's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
badge pushes Virne away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Virne gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
badge takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Virne throwing strikes but badge manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Virne gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for badge.
Virne is breathing heavily.
badge gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Virne.
badge stalling in the clinch but Virne improves position.
badge drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Virne has badge pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. badge manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Virne tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. badge just stands there and leans against the cage.
Donnie badge has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jarppi Virne.
badge is looking to break free of the clinch but Virne has double underhooks.

and Virne counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in badge's guard now.
Virne must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Virne loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

badge bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Virne counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Virne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. badge swivels though and keeps the full guard.
badge throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Virne is posturing up here but badge has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Virne tries to roll out but it's too tight and Virne has to tap! Slick submission there by badge!
