The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wellwood's corner calls for a 1-2. Wellwood obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Wellwood dodges the punch combination from Hill.
Hill tries to clinch up.
Hill wants to clinch.
Hill tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wellwood paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hill is looking to clinch.
Hill tries to clinch there but Wellwood circles away.
Hill wants to clinch.
Hill cracks Wellwood with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Hill tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wellwood paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hill lands a nice shot that snaps Wellwood's head back.
Cotton Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wellwood swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wellwood avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wellwood circles away from the clinch attempt.

Hill closes the distance and clinches.

Hill pulls Wellwood into guard.
Hill is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Wellwood wants to control from the top but Hill keeps moving.
Wellwood wants to get up but he can't break Hill's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hill has his foot on Wellwood's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wellwood works his way back into a safe position though.

Hill is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Hill working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wellwood doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wellwood manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Wellwood is looking to stand up but Hill won't let him.
Hill doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Wellwood drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hill looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hill looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hill!

Hill is working to tighten is grip on Wellwood's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Wellwood has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Hill is really squeezing tight and eventually Wellwood passes out! Hill breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
