Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pat Steele!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ott looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Steele is on top in guard.
Ott wants to stand up but Steele is controlling him.
Steele pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ott is keeping the position for now.
Ott has a closed guard, preventing Steele from standing up.

Ott has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Steele off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Steele tries for a takedown but Ott circles away easily

and Ott counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Steele!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Steele is desperately trying to improve his position but Ott has a good base and remains in mount.

Ott is landing with some decent strikes but Steele is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Ott wants to control the pace but Steele is squirming around nicely.

Steele is bucking up trying to escape but Ott cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Ott's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ott closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ott lands a nice forearm strike.

Steele is trying to control Ott's posture but Ott avoids it.
Ott throws a strike aimed at the side of Steele's head but Steele avoids it well.
You can see the frustration on Steele's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ott tries to move to mount but Steele blocks the move with his legs.
Ott wants to control for a moment but Steele uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Steele wants to take a breather but Ott is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ott misses with a body kick.

Ott shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ott was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Steele should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Steele wants to control but Ott is having none of it.

Ott can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Steele is looking to escape.
Steele is trying desperately to improve position.
Ott scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Steele?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Ott closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ott lands in his opponent's guard.
John Ott overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Steele counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ott!

Ott is squirming around, avoiding Steele's attempts to control the action.

Steele is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Ott is forced to tap! Great finish!
