The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Salo lands a left and a right that send Poutintsev crashing to the mat, dazed. Salo thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Zeljko Poutintsev has been cut.

Salo circles away from the clinch attempt.

Poutintsev lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Poutintsev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Salo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Poutintsev somewhat.

Poutintsev closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Poutintsev stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Salo to get to his feet.

Poutintsev throws a right hand that Salo ducks under and follows up with a left that Salo also avoids with ease.

Poutintsev lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A combination from Poutintsev does no damage.

Poutintsev scores with the left hand. Salo knows he should have avoided that one.
Salo takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

and Poutintsev counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Poutintsev is pushing Salo up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
