Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Volta Polotski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Trainius Reckus!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reckus misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Polotski scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Reckus closes this distance looking for a takedown but Polotski circles away.
Polotski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Volta Polotski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trainius Reckus.
Polotski stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Polotski wants it to stay on the feet.

Polotski on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Polotski tries to get out of the position.
Polotski is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Reckus is controlling him.
Reckus lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Polotski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reckus on the ground.

Reckus drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reckus jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Reckus wants to pass the guard but Polotski is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reckus is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Polotski displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Reckus.
Polotski tries to clinch but Reckus is having none of it.
Reckus has a takedown stuffed.
Polotski will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nice takedown defense from Polotski. No joy for Reckus on that attempt.

Polotski closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Reckus did well to prevent Polotski getting side control.
Polotski slips a nice elbow through Reckus's hands, connecting with Reckus's forehead.
Polotski wants to pass the guard but Reckus is defending well.

Polotski wants to stand up but Reckus has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Polotski is nestled in close to Reckus, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Reckus is pressing down on Polotski's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Polotski would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Polotski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Reckus looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Polotski has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Polotski postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Reckus has his foot on Polotski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Polotski works his way back into a safe position though.

Reckus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Polotski gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reckus looking for a guillotine here but Polotski defends easily.
Polotski is looking to work some ground and pound but Reckus has wrist control.
Polotski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Reckus preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Reckus shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Reckus wants to free his trapped foot but Polotski is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Reckus throwing shots but Polotski is blocking nicely.

Reckus is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Polotski has managed to free his arm - good work.
Polotski is looking to control Reckus's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Polotski avoid being mounted?
Polotski is looking to escape.

Reckus is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Polotski pushes Reckus off looking to stand but Reckus dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Volta Polotski will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Reckus fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Polotski sprawls well initially but Reckus persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Polotski is defending against the submission attempts here by Reckus.

Polotski kicks off Reckus and gets to his feet.
Polotski tries to clinch there but Reckus circles away.
Polotski throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Reckus seems to be looking for submissions.
Polotski is trying to control but can't.
Polotski blocking the ground and pound attempt from Reckus.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Polotski wants to control but Reckus is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Reckus is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Polotski defends it well.
Polotski is looking to improve his position.

Reckus has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Polotski defend it? Reckus steps over the head and cranks it - Polotski is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Reckus!
