Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dex Donk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Morten Iversen! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Donk fails in his attempt to clinch. Donk is looking to slow Iversen down with leg kicks. Donk pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Donk is looking to clinch but Iversen is avoiding it.
Iversen takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Donk fakes the leg kick and cracks Iversen in the body. Donk fails in his attempt to clinch. Donk wants to clinch. Iversen shoots in and bounces Donk off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Iversen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Iversen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Donk is keeping the position for now. Donk really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Iversen trying to control the position from guard on top but Donk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Donk looking to control.
Donk will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Donk lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Iversen! Iversen is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Donk breaks from Iversen's wrist control and lands an elbow. Iversen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Donk has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Iversen wants to control but Donk is having none of it. Iversen looks gassed! Donk jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Iversen manages to avoid the submission attempt. Iversen tries to get back to half guard but can't. Donk is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Iversen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Donk looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Iversen can't do much from the bottom here. Iversen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Iversen is looking to improve his position.
Iversen wants to control but Donk is keeping busy.
Iversen is defending against the submission attempts here by Donk.
Iversen makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Iversen. Donk pushes down on Iversen's leg and manages to get into half guard. Donk looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Donk prevents Iversen from improving his position. Iversen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Iversen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Donk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Iversen is not content to let Donk control the position. Iversen is trying to get back to full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Iversen can do anything to dispel that myth. Donk is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Iversen has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Iversen is refusing to be controlled, as Donk sits in half guard. Donk passes to side control. Donk thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Donk tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Donk has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Donk has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Iversen is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Donk yanks on the arm and Iversen is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Donk.
