Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus Falaris!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Derek Conrad!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conrad looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Conrad misses with a takedown attempt - Falaris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
No joy there for Falaris, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice leg kick lands there from Falaris.
Falaris misses the shot to the body.

Falaris misses with a two punch combination.
Falaris keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Falaris throws a sloppy head kick and Conrad moves out of range easily.
Falaris lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Conrad fails to land the takedown.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Falaris leaves Conrad with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Falaris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Falaris stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Falaris wants it to stay on the feet.

Conrad fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Falaris avoids it really well and circles away.
Conrad tries to score a power double leg takedown but Falaris sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Conrad somewhat.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Falaris throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Falaris throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Conrad.
Conrad on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Falaris. Falaris obviously looking to wear him down.
Falaris is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Conrad can do to turn this around?
Falaris lets loose with a powerful body kick. Conrad will feel that in the morning.
Marcus Falaris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Falaris plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Conrad looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Falaris scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Conrad manages to mount him!

Conrad swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Falaris is now in Conrad's guard. A big mistake from Conrad there, giving up the dominant position!
Conrad takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Conrad is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Falaris defends well.

Falaris stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Falaris throws a head kick that misses.
Conrad takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Falaris leaves Conrad with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Falaris pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Falaris throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Falaris stalks Conrad and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Conrad's face. Conrad staggers backwards, shaken.
Conrad misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Falaris throws a right and a left that Conrad avoids nicely.

Falaris throws a leg kick which misses Conrad's front leg but catches the back leg as Conrad tries to avoid it.
Falaris throws a head kick but Conrad moves out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Horrible takedown by Conrad or perhaps it was just good defense by Falaris which made him look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Conrad's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Conrad looks for a takedown but Falaris sprawls well.
Conrad tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Falaris swivels and escapes.

Conrad shoots in for a takedown but Falaris shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Falaris throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Conrad is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.
Falaris throws a series of punches but Conrad moves out of range.

Falaris throws a combination. Conrad tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Conrad has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Falaris.

A left and a right from Falaris both land. Nice combination.
Falaris displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Conrad.
Falaris lands a two punch combo.

Conrad misses with a takedown attempt - Falaris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Falaris closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Conrad tries for a takedown but Falaris sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Conrad scores with a takedown into Falaris's guard.
Falaris is looking to stand up but Conrad isn't so interested in that idea.
Conrad trying to control the position from guard on top but Falaris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Conrad stands and throws Falaris's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Falaris explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Conrad scores a takedown into full mount!
Conrad is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?

Conrad tries to control but Falaris wriggling away.
Falaris is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Conrad goes for an armbar but Falaris turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Falaris.

Conrad is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Falaris wants to stand but Conrad is controlling his posture from full guard.

Conrad working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Falaris doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Conrad is tightening it up a little... Falaris has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Falaris reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Falaris taps out! nice BJJ there by Conrad!
