Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between MIKE HAWK (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedja Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petrov is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Sentenced - Konevitsan Kirkonkellot. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedja Petrov!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov fails in his attempt to clinch.

Petrov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
HAWK not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
HAWK stopping the sweep attempt from Petrov.
HAWK trying to control the position from guard on top but Petrov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petrov manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Petrov takes HAWK's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, HAWK is in trouble.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
What can HAWK do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
A lull in the action here.

Petrov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as HAWK is looking to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Petrov controlling the pace for now.
I looks like Petrov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Fedja Petrov will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A jab from HAWK does it's job there.
Petrov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
HAWK tries to close the distance and clinch but Petrov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and HAWK counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Petrov's guard now.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
HAWK wants to control from the top but Petrov keeps moving.
Petrov is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Despite being in the dominant position, Fedja Petrov just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Petrov counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Petrov.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Petrov fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
HAWK tries to pull guard but Petrov holds him up against the cage and eventually HAWK drops back down to his feet.
HAWK misses with an elbow strike.
Petrov lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of HAWK backwards.
Petrov using the Thai plumb to throw knees but HAWK has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
HAWK takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like MIKE HAWK has been cut.
Petrov throws a head punch that misses.
Petrov stops a takedown attempt from HAWK.
Petrov stalling in the clinch but HAWK improves position.
Petrov has HAWK pressed against the cage.
HAWK jumps guard but Petrov stands there with HAWK around his waist. HAWK gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for MIKE HAWK. That's going to take a lot out of him.
HAWK changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Petrov fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and HAWK counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Petrov!

Petrov avoids a series of strikes thrown by HAWK.
HAWK pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Petrov is trying desperately to improve position.
HAWK thowing shots but they're missing.
HAWK misses with a head shot.
HAWK throws some wild stikes that Petrov manages to avoid easily.
Petrov gets back to half guard.
HAWK is trying to control. Petrov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
HAWK with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Petrov is looking to improve his position.
Petrov is looking to control HAWK's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Petrov avoid being mounted?
HAWK wants to stand but Petrov has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Petrov blocking the ground and pound attempt from HAWK.
HAWK sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Petrov defending well though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Petrov is looking to control HAWK's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Petrov avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from HAWK is defended easily by Petrov.
MIKE HAWK is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Petrov darts in trying to clinch

and HAWK counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Petrov is controlling HAWK's posture.

Petrov pushes a forearm under HAWK's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, HAWK is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Fedja Petrov!
