Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Niko Batchiska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Sebastien Blais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blais comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Metallica - One kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jean Sebastien Blais has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Niko Batchiska!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Sebastien Blais!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Batchiska has Blais up against the cage in a clinch.
Blais avoids a wild elbow strike from Batchiska.
Blais misses with a knee strike.
Blais prevents Batchiska from breaking the clinch.
Blais throws an elbow but it misses.
Blais throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Blais tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Batchiska breaks the clinch.
Blais avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Batchiska wants to stand and escape but Blais is having none of it.
Batchiska wants to hit a switch here but Blais passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Batchiska there!

Blais moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Batchiska has worked his arm free - good work by Batchiska!

Horrible takedown by Batchiska or perhaps it was just good defense by Blais which made him look bad.

Batchiska looks for the body kick but Blais saw that one coming.
Batchiska misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Blais.

Batchiska bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Batchiska decides to stand back up. Batchiska steps back and let's Blais get back to his feet.

Blais trying to control but Batchiska is working from the bottom.
Batchiska tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Blais thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Batchiska is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Blais has gone for a leg lock! Batchiska slips out almost immediately though and dives into Blais's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Blais controls Batchiska momentarily but Batchiska frees himself.
Batchiska forces his way into half guard.
Batchiska trying to control the action but Blais is working from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Batchiska is really struggling to control Blais but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Niko Batchiska will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Blais jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Blais misses with a double jab

and Batchiska counters with a takedown into side control.
Blais tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Batchiska wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Batchiska has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Batchiska closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Blais to the mat! Blais manages to get full guard.

Blais had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Batchiska is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Blais Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Batchiska's back instead.

Blais has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Batchiska has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Batchiska breaks Blais's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Batchiska stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blais swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Blais is striking off his back. Batchiska thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blais is trying to get back to full guard.

Batchiska is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Blais sees it coming and defends easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Batchiska wants to lay and pray for a moment but Blais keeps working.
Batchiska looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nice defenses there by Blais.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Batchiska is looking to control Blais's arms but Blais gets an underhook and turns him. Now Batchiska has his back to the cage.

Niko Batchiska has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jean Sebastien Blais.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Batchiska, as that shot connected.

Batchiska is looking to control Blais's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Batchiska avoid being mounted?

Blais is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Blais takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Batchiska is controlling Blais's trapped leg to prevent Blais from advancing to side control.

Blais is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Batchiska doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Blais.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Blais uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Batchiska.
Batchiska throws a looping overhand right but Blais ducks down to avoid it.
Blais tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Batchiska paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Blais shoots in for a double leg but Batchiska sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Batchiska counters by moving into the clinch.

Nice takedown defense from Blais. No joy for Batchiska on that attempt.

Batchiska closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Blais did well to prevent Batchiska getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well Batchiska has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
