Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Upin Ipin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alonzo Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Upin Ipin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alonzo Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Ipin.
Jackson keeps the fight on the outside.

Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ipin, pushing him back against the cage.

Jackson gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Ipin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ipin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Ipin is defending well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jackson misses with an uppercut. Ipin saw that one coming.

and Ipin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Jackson counters by moving into the clinch.
Ipin misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jackson.
Jackson is trying to stall.
Jackson is trying to break the clinch but Ipin has him pressed against the cage.

Jackson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ipin smiles and moves away.

letting Jackson counter with a right hand.

Jackson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Jackson manages to end up in side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jackson throws a strike aimed at the side of Ipin's head but Ipin avoids it well.

Jackson decides to stand back up. Jackson steps back and let's Ipin get back to his feet.

Jackson gets a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Jackson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Ipin scores with a hook to the body.
Ipin tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Ipin misses with a knee to the head.
Ipin is breathing heavily.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.

and Jackson counters by clinching up.
Jackson lands with a light punch inside.
Ipin looking to throw knees to the head but Jackson is blocking nicely.
Ipin throws a head punch that misses.
Ipin tries to land knees in the clinch but Jackson avoids the damage to the body.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ipin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ipin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ipin controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Ipin is keeping the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jackson is working Ipin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Ipin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jackson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ipin.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Ipin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Alonzo Jackson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Jackson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ipin stalks Jackson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jackson's face. Jackson staggers backwards, shaken.
Jackson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

and Jackson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jackson.

Ipin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jackson is taking a breather. Ipin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
