And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Declan Newell!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newell throws a body punch but Romerez moves out of range.
Romerez looks to land a combination but Newell avoids it well.
Romerez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Romerez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Romerez displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Newell throws out the jab.

Romerez drives through with a takedown into guard.
Romerez wants to pass the guard but Newell is keeping the position.
Romerez trying to control but Newell is working from the bottom.
Romerez advances position into side control!
Newell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Romerez advances to full mount.

Romerez working for a submission but Newell is keeping him at bay.

Newell is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Newell is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Newell tries to improve his position but instead Romerez has taken his back!
Newell is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Romerez off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Newell breaks Romerez's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Romerez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Newell throwing strikes from guard but Romerez blocks nicely.
Newell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Romerez is proving hard to escape from.

Romerez looking for a guillotine here but Newell defends easily.
Romerez has control of Newell's left arm, preventing Newell from doing any damage.

Newell stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Romerez has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Newell manages to get his head free but now Romerez has transitioned to an armbar! Newell grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Romerez! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
