PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Salas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Proudstar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Salas comes to the cage accompanied by The Prodigy - No Good. Proudstar comes into a darkened arena with his song building. "Run to the hills" by Iron Maiden kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that James Proudstar was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marco Salas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Proudstar!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Proudstar throws a half hearted mid kick.
Proudstar connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Proudstar throws a quick inside leg kick.
James Proudstar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Proudstar throws a head kick but Salas moves out of range.
Salas misses with a body kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Proudstar.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Proudstar.
Proudstar doesn't manage to clinch there - Salas circles away.
Proudstar tries to close the distance and clinch but Salas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Proudstar closes the distance and pushes Salas back into the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Salas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Salas wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Proudstar has him pressed against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Proudstar is stalling here.
Proudstar throws an elbow that misses.

Salas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Proudstar scores with a kick to the midsection.
Salas is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Knees in the clinch landing for Proudstar.
Proudstar stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Proudstar has picked Salas up - he's going for a ride! Proudstar dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Proudstar passes the guard and advances to mount!
Proudstar controlling from the full mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Proudstar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Proudstar looking to finish with strikes here!
Proudstar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Salas can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Proudstar trying to control but Salas is having none of it.
Proudstar controlling from mount.
Salas avoids a series of strikes thrown by Proudstar.
Proudstar throws some wild stikes that Salas manages to avoid easily.
Proudstar controlling from the full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Proudstar sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Proudstar throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Salas because Proudstar loaded up on that one.
Salas is working to get back to half guard.

Proudstar is going olschool here, as he tries to force Salas to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Salas shrugs it off.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Proudstar dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Salas throws a sloppy head kick
and Proudstar counters with a good low kick that Salas was not able to check.
Salas scores with a leg kick.
Proudstar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Proudstar lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

enabling Salas to counter with a crisp jab.
Salas throws a head kick that misses
and Proudstar counters with an inside leg kick.

Proudstar is looking to clinch.
Proudstar is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Salas misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Proudstar counters with a nice low kick that buckles Salas's knee momentarily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Proudstar moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Proudstar scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Proudstar seems to be stalking Salas here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Salas drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). James Proudstar!
