The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Joseph Jones and Columbo Gatti.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez is looking to clinch but Mickael is avoiding it.
Melendez swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Melendez tries to clinch but Mickael moves out of range.
Mickael shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Melendez pinned against the cage. Melendez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mickael swats away the attempt to clinch by Melendez.

Mickael clinches up with Melendez and pushes him back against the cage.
Melendez lands a knee to the body.
A knee to the head by Melendez.

Melendez is working for takedown but Mickael is calmly controlling the position for now.
Melendez tries to land a knee to the head but Mickael blocks with his arms.
Melendez lands with a right to the head.
Mickael can't get the takedown.
Melendez lands a damaging elbow.

It looks like Taton Mickael has been cut.

Melendez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mickael is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Melendez pulls guard successfully.
Mickael won't allow Melendez to get back to his feet.

Melendez scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Melendez closes the distance and pushes Mickael back into the cage.
Melendez looking to throw knees to the head but Mickael is blocking nicely.
Melendez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mickael walks away with a smile on his face. Melendez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Melendez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Mickael counters with a takedown into side control.

Mickael tries for a kimura but Melendez is defending well.

Melendez pushes Mickael away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mickael gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mickael has hold of Melendez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Melendez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mickael cranks the arm and Melendez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Melendez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
