PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Randy Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Quicknee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quicknee comes into a darkened arena with his song building. You're Gonna Go Far Kid - Offspring kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith avoids the head kick by Quicknee.
Quicknee fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Quicknee bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quicknee working the ground and pound but Smith is defending the strikes.
Quicknee wants to stand but Smith is controlling his arm.

Quicknee decides to stand back up.

Smith gets a clinch.
Quicknee is trying to break the clinch but Smith is controlling him.
Quicknee tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
A knee to the head by Quicknee.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Quicknee.
Quicknee wants a takedown but no success here.
Quicknee is trying to maintain a safe position but Smith gets an underhook and turns Quicknee into the cage.

Smith pulls guard.

Smith working for a triangle but Quicknee defends it easily.
Quicknee throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Quicknee looks gassed!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quicknee is trying to control the position but Smith postures up.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Quicknee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Quicknee is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Quicknee is on top in guard.

Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Quicknee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Quicknee controlling from the top position.

Quicknee trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.
Quicknee looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Quicknee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Smith.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smith sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Quicknee keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.

Smith drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Smith as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Quicknee screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Smith! Nice submission victory there!
