PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Berticus Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adam Lesnar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Berticus Maximus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maximus gets a takedown into half guard.

Maximus decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Maximus shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Lesnar is trying to stand.
Lesnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maximus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Maximus changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lesnar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Maximus decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Maximus shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lesnar napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Maximus cracks Lesnar with a big right hand but Lesnar just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Maximus decides to stand back up. Maximus steps back and let's Lesnar get back to his feet.

Maximus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Maximus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Maximus connects with a nice short shot to Lesnar's temple.
Lesnar is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Maximus scores with a couple of nice shots.

Maximus stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lesnar to get to his feet.

Lesnar gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Maximus to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Maximus keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lesnar's head.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Maximus's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Maximus postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lesnar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Maximus is working Lesnar over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Lesnar can't keep his opponent in guard - Maximus advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lesnar is trying to stand.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Maximus lands a nice short elbow.
Lesnar looks like he's trying to stand up.
Maximus looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lesnar with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Maximus takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Maximus working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Maximus stands up out of the half guard.

Maximus shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Lesnar wants to get back to his feet.
Maximus looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Maximus is nestled in close to Lesnar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Maximus moves nicely into side control.

Maximus decides to stand back up.
Lesnar scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Adam Lesnar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Maximus decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Maximus has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lesnar squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maximus cracks Lesnar with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Lesnar takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Maximus scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Maximus tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Lesnar takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Maximus is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lesnar can do to turn this around?

Lesnar is bucking up trying to escape but Maximus cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Maximus is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lesnar can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Maximus throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Lesnar has his hands clasped together but Maximus breaks the hold and Lesnar is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Maximus!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Berticus Maximus!
