Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Bach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matheus Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Bach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matheus Gomes!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes is looking to clinch.
Gomes throws a looping overhand right but Bach ducks down to avoid it.
Gomes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bach swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gomes misses with a double jab.
Matheus Gomes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bach scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Gomes tries to bum rush Bach with a series of wild strikes but Bach uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gomes tries to clinch there but Bach circles away.
Gomes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bach moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bach has a takedown stuffed.

Bach tries for a takedown but Gomes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bach shoots in looking for a takedown. Gomes tries to sprawl out of it but Bach keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gomes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Bach. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bach shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Gomes is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bach scores with a couple of nice shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bach stands up and beckons Gomes to join him on the feet.

No joy there for Gomes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A left and a right from Gomes both land. Nice combination.
Bach shoots for a takedown but Gomes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bach is defended easily by Gomes.

Bach fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gomes, pushing him back against the cage.
Bach jumps guard but Gomes stands there with Bach around his waist. Bach gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bach has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gomes uses from the top position.
Bach seems keen to control Gomes's posture.
Bach manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gomes manages to get himself to full guard.

Gomes pushes Bach off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Bach counters with a single leg into guard. Gomes didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bach frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gomes in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Bach working the ground and pound effectively.
Bach looking to control but Gomes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bach is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gomes can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gomes is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Bach looking to control but Gomes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Gomes is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bach landing punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Bach dominated that round.
That's time! Bach's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gomes wants to break free but Bach has control.

Bach manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gomes manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bach trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bach won't allow Gomes to get back to his feet.
Bach is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gomes is breathing heavily.

Bach trying to control but Gomes is working from the bottom.
Gomes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gomes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bach is controlling him.
Gomes wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bach manages to pass to side control.
Gomes is in trouble now - Bach has advanced to mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee warns Gomes that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Bach lands a nice shot to the head.
Bach takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bach cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Bach has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Gomes is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Bach!
