PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mahatma Gandhi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerald Stamp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gandhi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Hungry Like The Wolf. Stamp has chosen I got a feeling as his entrance music. Mahatma Gandhi is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mahatma Gandhi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerald Stamp!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gandhi throws a right hand that Stamp ducks under and follows up with a left that Stamp also avoids with ease.
Gandhi tries to land a leg kick but Stamp saw it coming and moves away.

Stamp closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Stamp cracks Gandhi with a big elbow.
Stamp throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Gandhi regains half guard.
Stamp thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Stamp is nestled in close to Gandhi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Gandhi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Stamp is looking to take a break and control but Gandhi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gandhi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Stamp's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Stamp's back!
Gandhi scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Stamp is looking for a way out.


It looks like Gerald Stamp has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stamp turns into Gandhi and is now in his guard.
Stamp thows a big elbow that misses.
Stamp has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Gandhi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stamp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Stamp throws and elbow that misses. Gandhi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Stamp's guard. Nice move by Gandhi!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Stamp looking for a sweep. Not yet Stamp, not yet.
Stamp is trying to control the position from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Stamp tries to clinch but Gandhi moves out of range.

Stamp drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stamp is chipping away with strikes.
Stamp in side control lands a decent elbow.
Gandhi is working to avoid the ground and pound but Stamp connects with a decent elbow.
Gandhi is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Stamp's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Stamp drops an elbow to the side of Gandhi's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gandhi is staying active underneath Stamp, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Gandhi has hold of Stamp's hands but Stamp slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Gandhi gets back to full guard.
Gandhi thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Stamp postures up in Gandhi's guard and throws a big left but Gandhi blocks it.
Gandhi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Stamp is in close to Gandhi's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Gandhi is looking for a triangle but Stamp pushes his legs off easily.
Gandhi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gandhi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stamp can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stamp throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gandhi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gandhi missing with a left hand there. Stamp was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Stamp, as that shot connected.


It looks like Mahatma Gandhi has been cut.

Gandhi takes one to the chin there.
Stamp takes a body punch but keeps moving.
A combination from Gandhi does no damage.
Gandhi is breathing heavily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Stamp.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gandhi manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Stamp trying to control from half guard but Gandhi is working away.
Gandhi gets back to full guard.
Stamp scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gerald Stamp dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Stamp lands a body shot.

Stamp breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gandhi cracks Stamp with a good jab.
Gandhi works over Stamp's head and body with a nice combination.
Stamp shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gandhi as he jumps to the side.
Gandhi bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Stamp's head.
Gandhi shoots in but Stamp avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Stamp takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Stamp throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gandhi counters with a left and a right that stings Stamp.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stamp swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Gandhi misses with a double jab.

Stamp gets a clinch.
Stamp drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gandhi gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Gandhi tries to break free but Stamp pushes him back against the cage.

Stamp pushes Gandhi back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
A nice left hand lands by Stamp.
Gandhi wants to get back to striking at distance but Stamp won't allow it.
Gandhi is trying to force a seperation but Stamp has the dominant position.
Gandhi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stamp walks away with a smile on his face. Gandhi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Gandhi throws a shot from downtown. Stamp moves away and avoids it.
Stamp with a poor takedown
and Gandhi counters with a nice uppercut.
Mahatma Gandhi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Stamp.
Stamp throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Gandhi counters with a straight right hand.
Gandhi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Stamp tries to clinch up.
Some wild striking there from Stamp.
Gandhi stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Some bone on bone action there as Stamp checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Stamp wants to clinch.
Gandhi tries to bum rush Stamp with a series of wild strikes but Stamp uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Stamp throws a combination that misses
and Gandhi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Stamp tries to clinch there but Gandhi circles away.
Gandhi is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Stamp looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Gandhi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stamp is aware though and is defending well.
Stamp loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Stamp avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Stamp wants to control from the top but Gandhi keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gandhi is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stamp is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gandhi is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Gerald Stamp will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Gandhi moves away from the strike by Stamp.
Gandhi keeps the fight on the outside.

Gandhi tries to move into range but Stamp moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Stamp looks to throw the jab but Gandhi is out of range.
Gandhi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gandhi is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Stamp tries to clinch up but Gandhi circles away and keeps his distance.
Stamp takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Stamp with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Gandhi to score with a decent uppercut.
Nice defenses there by Gandhi.
Gandhi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stamp.
Stamp takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Stamp wants to clinch.
Stamp shoots in but Gandhi avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mahatma Gandhi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gandhi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Stamp dodges the punch combination from Gandhi.
Gandhi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gandhi staying out of range there.
Gandhi moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Stamp tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Left hook, right uppercut from Gandhi.
Gandhi throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Stamp on the side of the head.
Gandhi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Gandhi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Stamp shoots in for a takedown but Gandhi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mahatma Gandhi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Stamp.
Gandhi misses with a few strikes there.
Gandhi feints and then cracks Stamp's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Stamp down.
Gandhi lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Gandhi.
Mahatma Gandhi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gandhi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gandhi scores with a one two! Stamp had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gandhi thuds his right hand into Stamp's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Danga de danga de dang - Gandhi scores with a four punch combination!


Stamp is rocked!
Gandhi lands with a big left! Stamp is wobbled badly! Gandhi comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Stamp to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mahatma Gandhi!
