The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Connely changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kimura tries to avoid it but Connely manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kimura to the ground. Kimura escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Connely is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Kimura had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Connely is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kimura Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Connely's back instead.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

You can see the frustration on Connely's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
