PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Matrikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Flikflak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matrikov comes to the cage accompanied by Drake - Over. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Vladimir Matrikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pedro Flikflak!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matrikov steps into range and cracks Flikflak with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Flikflak flops backwards and Matrikov dives into his guard looking to finish!


It looks like Pedro Flikflak has been cut.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Flikflak holds on and takes a little breather.
Matrikov trying to control but Flikflak is working from the bottom.
Flikflak is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Matrikov is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Matrikov lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Matrikov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flikflak keeping moving, preventing Matrikov from controlling successfully.
Flikflak pulls Matrikov in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Flikflak's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Matrikov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Flikflak looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Matrikov has gone for a leg lock! Flikflak slips out almost immediately though and dives into Matrikov's guard.

Flikflak is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Matrikov tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Flikflak stands and throws Matrikov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Flikflak working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Flikflak wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Matrikov, who protects the arm well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Flikflak goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Matrikov has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Flikflak but great work by Matrikov.
Matrikov is working Flikflak over with some ground and pound from side control.

Matrikov decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Vladimir Matrikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matrikov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Flikflak swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Matrikov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Flikflak throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Flikflak looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Flikflak looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Matrikov trying to control but Flikflak is working from the bottom.
Matrikov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Matrikov trying to stand up but can't free himself from Flikflak's guard.
Matrikov throws and elbow that misses. Flikflak uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Matrikov's guard. Nice move by Flikflak!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Flikflak advances position into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vladimir Matrikov dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Pedro Flikflak's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Flikflak will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Matrikov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Matrikov can't keep his opponent in guard - Flikflak advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Flikflak wants to control but Matrikov is keeping him busy.

Flikflak seems to be looking for submissions.

Flikflak is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Flikflak is breathing heavily.
Flikflak passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Matrikov!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Flikflak misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Flikflak working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Matrikov turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Flikflak off and cradles Matrikov's limp body as Flikflak celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Pedro Flikflak!
