Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Slinky McDougle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and john paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
paul tries a head kick but it misses.
paul misses with a wild combination.
paul wants to clinch.
paul on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
paul avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

paul drives through with a takedown into guard.
McDougle lands with a heel strike from the guard.
McDougle throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDougle doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

paul won't allow McDougle to sweep him here.
paul really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McDougle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

paul throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McDougle's waist but McDougle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing paul off to one side.
McDougle misses with a takedown attempt - paul sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

McDougle looks up at the clock and then as paul takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, McDougle smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if paul can do anything to dispel that myth.
