Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Markus Barros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Breno Pereira!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Pereira misses.
Barros waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Pereira.
Pereira throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pereira misses with a wild combination.
Barros misses with a kick to the body.
Barros tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pereira paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pereira tries a head kick but it misses.
Barros throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pereira throws a series of punches but Barros avoids them all with ease.
Pereira swinging wilding here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barros shoots in for a takedown but Pereira shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pereira misses with the combination.
Pereira throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barros misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Some wild striking there from Barros.
Pereira tries to bum rush Barros with a series of wild strikes but Barros uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pereira leaves Barros with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Markus Barros. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pereira tries a head kick but it misses.
Pereira throws a head kick that misses.
Pereira throws a sloppy head kick and Barros moves out of range easily.
Pereira looks gassed!
Pereira is looking to land body kicks.
Barros wants to clinch up but Pereira keeps it at a distance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Barros shoots for a takedown but Pereira saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Barros fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pereira is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Barros.
Barros blocks a head kick by Pereira.
Barros dives in and grabs Pereira's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pereira pushes down on Barros's head and hops out.
Breno Pereira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barros dodges the punch combination from Pereira.
Barros misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Pereira tries a head kick but it misses.

Barros wants to slow Pereira down by chopping away at his legs.
Pereira misses with a leg kick

so Barros counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Pereira keeping moving, preventing Barros from controlling successfully.

Barros is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Barros has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pereira looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pereira really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barros. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Barros is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Barros advances to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Pereira wants to get back to his feet.

Barros is trying to work for a kimura but Pereira is defending well.

Pereira tries to get to full guard but Barros has control of the leg.

Barros is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pereira doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Barros.

Barros is trying for a kimura here. Pereira looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Barros wins by kimura!
