Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steffa Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Ortiz had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 172.5lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Rutten as Ortiz shoots in.
Ortiz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rutten sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ortiz somewhat.
Ortiz throws the kick towards the body but Rutten avoids it.
Mike Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ortiz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Rutten is refusing to be controlled, as Ortiz sits in half guard.
Rutten wants to get back to full guard.
Ortiz trying to control the action but Rutten is working from the bottom.
Rutten is trying to control but Ortiz passes into side control!

Ortiz working the ground and pound but Rutten is defending the strikes.
Ortiz tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Rutten is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ortiz is controlling him well.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rutten pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Rutten with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Ortiz is breathing heavily.
Ortiz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rutten pinned against the cage. Rutten gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Ortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rutten dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ortiz uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rutten.
Rutten Rushes Ortiz and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Ortiz is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Rutten Piles on the pressure and Ortiz crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
