Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Aqua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bear McKenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bear McKenzie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Aqua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bear McKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKenzie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Crunch! Aqua slams his shin into McKenzie's torso.
Aqua throws a head kick that misses.
Aqua shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McKenzie as he jumps to the side.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Aqua.
McKenzie throws a right and a left that Aqua avoids nicely.
McKenzie throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Aqua forces McKenzie back against the cage and clinches.
McKenzie blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Aqua works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Aqua prevents a takedown attempt there.
Aqua will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning McKenzie up against the cage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Aqua accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McKenzie lands a big shot there that rocks Aqua but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

McKenzie tries to clinch there but Aqua circles away.

Aqua closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Aqua lands in his opponent's guard.
McKenzie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McKenzie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Aqua swivels and escapes.
Aqua slips a jab and a cross from McKenzie.
McKenzie throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Aqua takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Aqua is on the wrong end of a nice combination from McKenzie.

McKenzie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Aqua swivels and escapes.
Steve Aqua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bear McKenzie.
McKenzie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Aqua sprawls well. Aqua wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McKenzie gets slowly back to his feet.

and McKenzie counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Aqua takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Aqua bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
McKenzie is letting Aqua control him for a moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Aqua seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McKenzie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Aqua ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McKenzie moves away.
McKenzie goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Aqua keeps McKenzie at a distance using the push kick.
McKenzie takes one to the side of the head.

McKenzie moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
McKenzie attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Well Aqua has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
