PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Meruvin Manufu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaeso Vanderlee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Manufu might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to "I'm a Boss" by Young Jeezy ft. Rick Ross. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manufu tries a head kick but it misses.
Manufu pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vanderlee jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Meruvin Manufu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Manufu defending well as Vanderlee loads up on a big left hand.
Vanderlee misses with a few strikes there.
Manufu throws a head kick that Vanderlee semi-blocks.
Manufu fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Vanderlee tests Manufu's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Manufu doesn't manage to clinch there - Vanderlee circles away.

No joy there for Manufu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Vanderlee dives in and grabs Manufu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Manufu pushes down on Vanderlee's head and hops out.
Manufu throws a sloppy head kick and Vanderlee moves out of range easily.

Manufu takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Vanderlee goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

and Manufu counters with an inside leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vanderlee scores with a shot to the body.
Manufu clinches but Vanderlee breaks the clinch
and Vanderlee counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Oh Manufu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Manufu gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Vanderlee is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Vanderlee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Manufu seems to have got his legs back now.
Vanderlee postures up in Manufu's guard and throws a big left but Manufu blocks it.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vanderlee's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Vanderlee lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Vanderlee controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Vanderlee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vanderlee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Manufu tries to clinch but Vanderlee is having none of it.

Vanderlee slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Vanderlee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Manufu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Vanderlee has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
A left lands for Manufu.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vanderlee blocks a head kick by Manufu.
Meruvin Manufu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Manufu throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Vanderlee fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kaeso Vanderlee dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Manufu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Vanderlee takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Vanderlee slips a jab and a cross from Manufu.
Vanderlee thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Manufu if he has to take too many more of those.
Vanderlee dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Manufu jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Manufu misses with a looping right.
Vanderlee tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Manufu swivels and escapes.

Manufu wants to clinch but Vanderlee slips to the side

so Vanderlee counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Vanderlee won't allow Manufu to get back to his feet.
Manufu might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Vanderlee keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Manufu's head.

Vanderlee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Manufu manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Vanderlee has Manufu in his guard.
Vanderlee is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vanderlee manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Manufu could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Manufu is bucking up trying to escape but Vanderlee cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Vanderlee! Manufu is hurt baaadly! Vanderlee is firing away with more strikes - Manufu is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
