PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregory Radivostok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raoul Duke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Gregory Radivostok has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gregory Radivostok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Raoul Duke!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duke shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Radivostok is trying to defend but Duke finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Radivostok wants to get back to his feet.

Radivostok is trying to stand back up but Duke is controlling him

Duke is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Radivostok defends it well.
Duke tries to pass to full mount but Radivostok defends it.

Duke is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Radivostok has managed to free his arm - good work.
Radivostok is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Duke trying to pass the guard but Radivostok defending well.
Radivostok knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Duke on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Duke shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Radivostok is trying to escape the mount.

Duke jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Radivostok is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Radivostok and Duke has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Duke looks gassed!

Duke tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Radivostok prevents Duke from improving position.
Radivostok tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Duke wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Duke swings around for an armbar but Radivostok sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Duke's guard.
Duke wants to sweep here but Radivostok controlling him for the moment.

Duke is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Radivostok defends well.
Radivostok cracks Duke with a solid left hand.
Radivostok wants to pass the guard but Duke is keeping the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Radivostok is working Duke over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Duke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Radivostok got a little sloppy there for a moment and Duke has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Radivostok has managed to get both his arms back between Duke's legs - danger averted.
Radivostok has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Duke is proving hard to escape from.
Radivostok trying to control the position from guard on top but Duke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Duke shoots in but no luck this time.

Duke shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Duke wants to pass to mount but Radivostok is defending the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Radivostok is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Duke pulls his head out easily.

Duke is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Radivostok won't allow Duke to pass to mount.
Radivostok slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Duke is pushing down on Radivostok's leg trying to pass to half guard. Radivostok is fighting to maintain full guard but Duke has managed to sneak the leg through.

Duke is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Radivostok is just riding it out for now. Duke eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raoul Duke dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Duke tries to score a power double leg takedown but Radivostok sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Duke somewhat.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Duke.
Duke tries to move to mount but Radivostok blocks the move with his legs.

Duke is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Radivostok is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Radivostok might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Radivostok gets back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Duke is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Radivostok wants to get back to full guard.

Duke is trying to work for a kimura but Radivostok is defending well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Duke passes to side control.

Duke wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Radivostok, who protects the arm well.

Duke looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Duke is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Radivostok knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Duke working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Duke has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Radivostok!
Raoul Duke has got the better of the ground game so far.

Duke goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Radivostok turns into him and now he's in Duke's guard.
Radivostok forces his way into half guard.
Duke is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Radivostok's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Radivostok's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raoul Duke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Duke shoots for a double leg takedown but Radivostok sprawls well. He's pushed Duke's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Radivostok shoots and misses

so Duke counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Radivostok is looking for a triangle but Duke pushes his legs off easily.
Radivostok keeping moving, preventing Duke from controlling successfully.
Duke sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Radivostok's guard.
Radivostok is in trouble now - Duke has advanced to mount!

Duke looking to isolate an arm here. Radivostok doesn't see it coming and as Duke extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Duke!
